How To Cook Mini Frozen Sausage Rolls In The Air Fryer

Can you cook mini frozen sausage rolls in the air fryer? Yes, you definitely can! This post takes a look at exactly what you need to do and how long to cook them for.

The air fryer is one of my favourite kitchen gadgets and it’s now got to the point where I use mine several times each week.

I’m slowly discovering all the different things I can cook in my air fryer and that includes cooking different food from frozen.

Can You Cook Mini Frozen Sausage Rolls In The Air Fryer?

The good news is that yes, you can absolutely cook mini frozen sausage rolls in the air fryer. They puff up beautifully and I found I wasn’t left with any uncooked pastry which can sometimes happen with oven cooking.

The sausage rolls also took less time to cook in the air fryer, saving electricity and therefore money.

One downside of cooking mini frozen sausage rolls in the air fryer is that you can only cook a few at a time, whereas in the oven it’s possible to cook much bigger batches – so if you’re planning a big party I would say stick to the oven cooking!

That said, air fryer cooking would be perfect if you only need a few sausages rolls, for example, for a picnic for 2-3 people or if your oven is already full with other dishes and you need a backup option for cooking more food.

How To Cook Mini Frozen Sausage Rolls In The Air Fryer

Cooking mini frozen sausages in the air fryer is quick and easy. I chose to line my air fryer with greaseproof paper as I do find some food can stick to the bottom of it when cooking.

Overall I found these mini frozen sausage rolls took around 20 minutes to cook from frozen in the air fryer.

  1. Place the mini frozen sausage rolls in the air fryer, ensuring there is a good amount of space between them. They need plenty of room to puff up. As you can see below, I got 7 in one layer but you’ll get more if the sausage rolls are smaller.
  2. Cook the sausage rolls at 200°c (usually the highest temperature setting on an air fryer) and cook for 8-10 minutes. I usually check them after this time to make sure they’re not burning.
  3. Once the top is golden brown, I like to turn the sausage rolls and cook for a further 5-8 minutes on the other side. This ensures an even bake and helps prevent there being uncooked pastry.
  4. When cooking food from frozen I like to use a digital food thermometer to check the internal temperature is over 75°c for at least 30 seconds or 80°c for at least 6 seconds. If the food hasn’t reached this temperature, cook for a further few minutes.
  5. Serve while still warm or allow to cool and then refrigerate until needed.

For reference, I used a Tower Air Fryer which you can find on Amazon and Greggs brand mini sausage rolls from Iceland which are slightly bigger than normal cocktail sausage rolls.

However, all appliances are different and you may find you need to adjust the cooking times slightly to accommodate this with your own air fryer.

I love how these sausage rolls come out after cooking in the air fryer and I think they almost look homemade! Have you tried cooking frozen sausage rolls in the air fryer? I’d love to hear about it if you have.

Next, I think I’ll be cooking whole sausage rolls instead of mini ones!
