Here are some important things to remember when cooking food from frozen

The internal temperature of any food being cooked from frozen should always reach a minimum. In England, Ireland and Wales, the recommended temperature set by the Food Standards Agency is 70°C for 2 minutes. This differs slightly in Scotland where it is 75°C for 30 seconds.

This is especially important for meat and meat-based dishes.

How To Check Food Cooked From Frozen Is Hot  Enough

It is definitely worth investing in a digital meat thermometer to help check food is hot enough when it has been cooked from frozen and not defrosted first. This should help reassure food has been cooked to the correct temperature and is safe to eat.

When Shouldn’t You Cook From Frozen?

There are some occasions when you shouldn’t cook from frozen.

This is because either the cooking method means the core temperature won’t get high enough such as when using a slow cooker or the portion of food is so large that it’ll be in the danger zone for too long while cooking.

This is why cooking a whole chicken or turkey from frozen is not recommended.
