Can you cook frozen onions rings in an air fryer? If you have some frozen onion rings you might be wondering whether you can cook them in the air fryer instead of the oven or deep fryer.

I love onion rings. They go great with steaks and burgers and are perfect for buffets or even just as a tasty snack.

How To Cook Frozen Onions Rings In The Air Fryer

Cooking onion rings in the air fryer is easy following the steps below. For reference, I used Aunt Bessies Crispy Whole Onion rings, but as I mentioned above, you can cook any type of frozen onion rings in the air fryer.

  1. Place the frozen onion rings into the air fryer in an even layer. I find I can get around 12 onion rings in my tower air fryer.
  2. Cook for six minutes at 180°c. After six minutes, turn the onion rings over and cook for a further six minutes until crispy and golden on both sides.
  3. Depending on your air fryer, the onion rings may need another couple of minutes.
  4. Serve while still hot.

Can You Reheat Onion Rings In The Air Fryer?

Yes, you can but be prepared for them to go very crispy. If you want to part cook onion rings and then reheat for a couple of minutes before serving then that could work.

You could also reheat air fryer onion rings in the oven or in the air fryer at a very low temperature.

When reheating any food, make sure the onion rings have reached at least 75°c for 30 seconds.

Tips For Cooking Onion Rings In The Air Fryer

  • While you can cook any brand and type of frozen onion rings in the air fryer, cooking times may need adjusting slightly from those I mentioned above.
  • Make sure you remember to turn the onion rings halfway through cooking to make sure they cook evenly.
  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer. Instead, cook the onion rings in batches if you need to.
  • These onion rings crisped up really nicely, so be careful not to overcook them.
  • All appliances do vary slightly, so you may find your air fryer runs a little hotter or cooler than mine. Keep checking the onion rings as they cook.
